In this demonstration\/activity (with PowerPoint slides) students are randomly assigned to a high or low arousal group based on the last digit of their social security number. Those in high arousal condition believe they will give a short speech on a randomly selected topic. Those in low arousal condition believe they will merely listen a short speech on a randomly selected topic.\u00a0 Both groups rate the physical attractiveness of several pictures (taken from HotorNot.com) .\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the \u201cData Analysis\u201d slide instructors can take the time to analyze the data in class if time\/facilities permit. Afterward, students\u00a0 have the opportunity to discuss key features of the experiment such as IV, DV, manipulation checks, use of deception, and\u00a0 the importance of experimental control.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
